Week 45 Day 4: Job’s Self-Defense
Question:What Was Job’s Final Statement?
Scripture Reading
Meditation: God’s Story
- Job recounts before God his past honor and blessings, then describes his present misfortune and suffering.
- Job also lists the ways he has maintained his integrity and remained faithful to the truth despite his afflictions.
- He concludes by describing how he cared for those whom God calls His people to protect—the widows and orphans—and makes his final appeal.
Meditation: My Story
- Identity - From Job’s summary of his life, what can we learn about how a person who belongs to God should view their life as a whole?
- Identity - Job cannot find an explanation for his suffering other than sin, yet he knows that he has not sinned. Caught in this painful dilemma, Job questions God’s justice. However, he must face the reality that in this world, the wicked do not always suffer, and believers may sometimes face greater hardships than unbelievers. What warnings and lessons should I take from this reality?
