Moses went up to Mount Sinai to receive the laws and commandments from God. God told Moses to accept offerings from people to build a sanctuary. This passage contains detailed instructions on materials and construction.

God wanted to dwell among the Israelites in the sanctuary they build. God loves His people and wants to live with them.
Meditation: My Story

Walking with God - God told Moses, “Tell the Israelites to bring me an offering. You are to receive the offering for me from everyone whose heart prompts them to give.” God wants us to give willingly. Am I giving willingly? What’s my attitude toward offering tithe to God?

Fidelity - God reminded Moses, “Exactly like the pattern I will show you.” It is important to keep obedience in mind when serving. Do I obey to God’s will when I serve?

God does not dwell in what man has made. But with such detailed instructions, God wanted His people learn to live an obedient life and to set apart their best as holy and offer to God.

Walking with God - God wanted to dwell among man and gave detailed instructions to build the Tabernacle. We can see how God wants us to live. Can I offer the best of myself to God in my journey with Him?

Fidelity -The intricately detailed instructions require great patience and attentions. Do I serve God with great patience and pay great attentions?

What are the instructions for priests?

God’s instructions for priests. Including the priest’s garment, the priest’s duty, and the sacrifices.

The purpose of priests is to be holy, to serve God, and to serve His people. In the Old Testament, God chose Aaron and his descendants to become priests. In the New Testament, God wants every believer to be His priest, to serve Him, to preach Him.
Meditation: My Story

Identity - The identity of priest is glorious and magnificent. “You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood” (1 Peter 2:9) How do I understand the meaning of this? How do I identify myself with this knowledge?

Fidelity - The duty of a priest is to serve God and His people. We are told in 1 Peter 2:9 that we are of the Royal Priesthood. That we may declare the praises of him who called us out of darkness into his wonderful light. How should I proclaim God’s truth?

The other instructions for the Tabernacle, including the altar of incense, atonement money, basin for washing, anointing oil, incense, and craftsmen. God also wanted man to observe Sabbath.

God established Tabernacle so He could dwell among His people. He established the Sabbath to indicate the Israelites are set apart and belong to Him. Building Tabernacle and observing Sabbath are the two sides of the same coin of worshiping.

Walking with God - God established Tabernacle to be with us, sabbath for us to rest, and set apart us to Himself. How do I sanctify myself to make myself His?

Fidelity - God values our services of all kinds. He filled the craftsmen with His Spirit so they would have the skills and wisdom to serve Him. Do I value the gifts God has given to me to serve Him?

Week 8 Day 5: The Golden Calf ⇧ ⇩

What happened down below when Moses was up in the mountain to see God?

Israelites made a golden calf and broke the covenant with God when they couldn’t wait for Moses to come back from the mountain. Moses pleaded to God for forgiveness to the people so that some of them were given a new chance.

Here we see God’s blessings and love. Although man continued to rebel against God, He continued to keep His promises and give man opportunities to repent.
Meditation: My Story

Walking with God - God and Moses were talking in the Tabernacle like friends. How could Moses be so close to God when he was not perfect? Besides being chosen by God, Moses also leaned on Him completely. Do I often experience God’s presence and walk with Him?

Community - Moses showed his love for his people. He pleaded for them and was willing to sacrifice for them. Am I willing to forgive and sacrifice for others?

Aron announced the “festival to the Lord” with burnt and fellowship offerings during the Golden Calf incident (Exodus 32:5-6) As result, God reiterated the forbiddance on idol worshipping and obedience on festival celebrations.
Meditation: My Story

Walking with God - God made new covenant with Israelites out of His love for them. Do I go back to God and ask for His forgiveness when I make mistakes? Do I reiterate my willingness to follow His steps?

Integrity - God asked the Israelites to be faithful and not to worship false gods and idols like the Gentiles. There are different idols and false gods throughout history (money, power, success, games…) What are my idols? How should I win over them?
