Week 44 Day 1: Good and Evil, Justice and Righteousness
Question:How Did Bildad, Job’s Second Friend, Try to Comfort Job?
Scripture Reading
Meditation: God’s Story
- Bildad continues along the lines of Eliphaz’s argument, believing that God is just and therefore suffering is punishment for wrongdoing.
- Bildad relies on traditional teachings and the natural order: God will not reject a blameless person or support evildoers.
- Job believes that no one can be righteous before God and that his friends’ words have been of no help.
- Job is anguished by the prospect of presenting his case before God because he is uncertain of the outcome, and he pours out his grief in lament.
Meditation: My Story
- Community - When should we avoid offering comfort in the way Bildad did?
